About
Samuel N. Cheuvront, Ph.D., R.D., FACSM, is the Founder and Principal of Sports Science Synergy, LLC and the Vice President of Science & Technology at entrinsic bioscience, LLC.  After completing undergraduate and master’s degrees in nutrition, Dr. Cheuvront completed his doctoral work in exercise physiology at Florida State University in the Department of Nutrition, Food, and Exercise Sciences.  In 2000, he joined the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine as a post-doctoral fellow in the Thermal and Mountain Medicine Division, then as a principal investigator was promoted to the Deputy Chief of the Biophysics and Biomedical Modeling Division.  In 20 years Dr. Cheuvront has published more than 150 peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters related to his research on fluid needs and sports performance, hydration and health, sports supplements and performance, and the physiology and biophysics of exercise and environmental heat stress.  Dr. Cheuvront holds several patents and was part of the team that created the first ever water planning application for the military called the Soldier Water Estimation Tool (SWET©) and is the creator of a similar Road Race Water Planner© application for sports medicine.  Dr. Cheuvront serves as an editorial board member for several professional journals, is a long standing member of APS and ACSM, and is a proud U.S. Army Veteran and father of two.
