Dr. Amira Hernandez is an experienced professional in the field of education and leadership. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, Religion, and Gender Studies from Sweet Briar College in 1999. With a passion for change-making, Dr. Hernandez then went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry and a Master of Social Work in Clinical Social Work, both from Boston College in 2004. Guided by the belief that scaffolded learning and development in an environment that supports capacity building equips us to navigate the ambiguity and complexity that frequently defines our lived experiences, Dr. Hernandez pursued and completed her Doctor of Education in Adult Learning, Leadership, and Organization Development from the University of Georgia in 2023. Dr. Hernandez has worked as a social worker, an educator, a clinical counselor and a career counselor, and an administrator in both higher education and the nonprofit sector. She has also served as a consultant and trainer, helping organizations and individuals assess needs, define goals, align practices with values, and build capacity. Dr. Hernandez is committed to purposefully developing people in order to purposefully develop organizations; accompanying both as they work toward their greatest potential. She cultivates inclusive and empowering learning environments that center trust, safety, respect, mutual aid and collaboration. In her free time, Dr. Hernandez enjoys cooking, quilting, traveling, hiking, and spending time with her family and friends.
