Dr. Sharmin Maswood is an accomplished scientist with a strong background in Molecular Biology and Behavioral Neuroscience. She received her Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology in 1994 and went on to complete her Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Behavioral Neuroscience in 1996. During her postdoctoral training, Dr. Maswood focused on studying the neurochemical mechanisms underlying depression in animal models. After completing her postdoctoral training, Dr. Maswood joined Texas Woman's University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and later became a Research Assistant Professor. During her time at the university, she taught selected neuroscience courses and conducted research mechanisms involved in females’ enhanced vulnerability to mood disorders using a rat model.  After her postdoctoral training, Dr. Maswood joined educational institute, where she continues to teach neuroscience and psychology courses, supervise and train students in research, mange projects, write grants, write research findings in local & national meetings and prepare manuscripts for publications in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Maswood has published numerous research articles in reputable scientific journals and has presented her work at various national and international conferences. She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the Society for Neuroscience and the Serotonin Club. Overall, Dr. Sharmin Maswood is a dedicated and accomplished scientist with a strong expertise in psychology and behavioral neuroscience.
