Experience

Michigan State University

Research Associate-Fixed Term / April, 2021Present

(1) Investigated the sustainability of cellulosic bioenergy cropping systems on marginal lands in the Great Lakes Region, USA. (2) Investigated the productivity of industrial hemp varieties for grain, fiber and cellulosic bioenergy production. (3) Investigating the corn stover removal effects on grain and stover yield and quality plus soil quality.

University of Idaho

Post-Doctoral Fellow / June, 2020March, 2021

Investigated the effects of different water and nutrient management practices on crop growth and quality of wheat, sugar beets, hops, and garden beans.

The University of Toledo

Graduate Assistant / January, 2014May, 2020

(1) Conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the effects of CO2 enrichment and global warming on N and protein concentration in plant tissues and root N uptake rate. (2) Investigated root uptake rate, translocation, and assimilation of N in tomato and wheat in response to elevated CO2 and chronic warming using 15N stable isotopes and protein biochemistry. (3) Investigated phenotypic changes of leaves in three tomato cultivars, soybean, marigold, okra, and sunflower in response to elevated CO2 and chronic warming by measuring leaf angle and physiological parameters. (4) Investigated the relationship between N transporters and N uptake of tomato and barley in response to elevated CO2 and forms plus levels of inorganic N using protein- and N-analyses.

About
Currently, I am working as a Research Associate in Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center at Michigan State University. Before I joined Michigan State University, I worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Cropping Systems Agronomy program at the University of Idaho. I got both my MS and PhD in Biology (Ecology-Track) from the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Toledo in December 2015 and May 2020. I have experience in conducting laboratory, controlled environment, and field research; experimental design; data management and analysis; interpretation and summation of data; and manuscript writing. I have expertise on plant physiology, plant nutrition, plant biochemistry, eco-physiology, abiotic stress, statistics, bioenergy, and agronomy. I have the ability to work independently or in a collaborative environment. I keep abreast of new science and technological developments. I have experiences in publishing research papers in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and to date, I have published thirteen peer-reviewed papers. I received the outstanding graduate student research paper award twice in 2017 and 2019, and in addition, I have presented in both regional and international conferences and rewarded several times. I am a passionate and committed scientist with demonstrated experimental and analytical skills in scientific research. I am hard working and open minded to explore the boundaries of scientific fields.
