About
Dr Kalliopi Dodou is a highly experienced and knowledgeable academic with a strong background in the field of pharmaceutical and cosmetic sciences. She obtained her Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry in 2004 and has since then dedicated her career to teaching and research. Dr Dodou began her academic journey with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Sunderland in 1999. She then went on to complete her Ph.D. where she conducted research on the development of novel agents for the treatment of skin psoriasis. After completing her Ph.D., Dr Dodou then moved on to become a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and eventually an Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Sciences at the University of Sunderland. In these roles, she taught a wide range of courses related to pharmaceutical sciences, and she designed two Cosmetic Science courses. In 2024 she moved to Teesside University as a Head of Pharmaceutics. In this role, she is responsible for managing the pharmaceutics department and overseeing the development and delivery of courses related to drug formulation and delivery. Throughout her career, Dr Dodou has led various research projects, she has published numerous papers in reputable scientific journals, and she has directed over 10 PhD students. She has also acted as consultant to the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry on R&D and patent litigation cases. She is the creator of a patent on transdermal drug delivery. Dr Dodou is highly respected in the academic and research communities for her expertise and contributions to the field of pharmaceutical and cosmetic sciences.
