Dr. Suarez's is interested in the intersection of race, gender identity, sexuality, and class, and how binary notions of gender permeate K-12 STEM spaces and curricula. His intersectional research agenda broadly asks: How does our understanding of gender and sexuality shape K-12 educational outcomes for queer and trans individuals? He tries to answer this question through a primarily critical quantitative lens using nationally representative data, though he also draws on qualitative methods when large data is not available. His research in education draws from the fields of sociology, demography, gender studies, and policy studies. His research has been published in top journals such as *Educational Researcher*, *AERA Open*, *Educational Studies*, and *Journal of LGBT Youth*, among others. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the *Journal of Queer and Trans Studies in Education*. * <br>

I am a researcher with expertise in workplace justice. My work focuses on the ways gender, sexuality and race shape access to professional careers. With Dr. Alison Cook, I have pioneered research on the glass cliff and the impact of representation on organizational success. With a team of researchers at USU, I am leading a series of projects related to the ways trans and nonbinary workers navigate work organizations. With international collaborators, I am also exploring the ways remote work is reshaping mothers' careers. I have experience collaborating with employers, professional associations, non-profits and employee resource groups to advance fairness and equity in professional work organizations. I also partner with several organizations, including the Utah Center for Legal Inclusion, Women in Safety and the Women Lawyers of Utah, to advance the representation of historically underrepresented individuals in professional careers. I have published in top journals in sociology, management and human resources. My work has also been featured in *The New York Times*, *CNN*, the *Harvard Business Review*, *National Public Radio*, *PBS*, the *BBC* and *The Guardian*.

As an avid rock climber, ultramarathoner, mountain biker, and skier, I am always searching for challenges to push myself and grow. At Utah State University, I created the Commercialization Division in Technology Transfer Services, bridging the gap between research and real-world application. My work combines strategic business insight with technical fluency to cultivate partnerships between industry and academia. I lead marketing initiatives to promote USU technologies—including creating videos, LinkedIn content, newsletters, and press releases. Additionally, I initiate outreach campaigns for licensing agreements and connect USU start-up companies with business advisors. I collaborate closely with researchers across various fields, such as mechanical engineering, software, outdoor products, chemistry, and life sciences, supporting the university’s mission to translate discovery into impact. <br> In parallel, I am pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry, with my research focusing on Electrochemistry. My research focuses on monitoring electron transfer in light-driven nitrogen fixation using biohybrid systems and exploring electrochemical nitrate reduction to ammonia using metal sulfides. This interdisciplinary work merges biochemistry and electrochemistry to provide the foundational knowledge needed to develop better catalysts for ammonia production.

I've spent the past 20+ years working with various hardware-based systems including field spectrometers, EO/IR sensors, platforms communicating with the U2, AI algorithms working with satellite sensor data, to AI applied to denoising sensor for magnetic navigation. I currently work predominantly in Python and use Pytorch. In the past I've programmed in C, C++, C# and to a lesser degree, other programming languages. I have a variety of interests including algorithmic trading. I enjoy tinkering with my 3D printer.
