During this 1 week work placement at Derby, UK, I had the opportunity of working alongside a manufacturing engineer to understand the role he plays in the development of the Trent engines. Networking with other colleagues in different departments made me understand how different roles in a business can link together to create a project. Lastly, I was given a tour around the shop site of a supplier supplying Sheet Metal Parts to Rolls Royce and then I was given a tour of the Rolls Royce Plant itself, located in Derby. - Learnt about sustainable improvements in manufacturing - Understood how designers and engineers collaborate to make engine components - Understood how companies present part specifications to suppliers
