Joseph Cotruvo holds a Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from Ohio State University (1968) and pursued graduate studies in Biochemistry at FAES Graduate School NIH (1995), with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Toledo (1963). His extensive career includes leadership positions at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), where he directed divisions related to chemical screening, risk assessment, health and environmental review, and drinking water standards. He also served as Vice President of Environmental Health Sciences and a Senior Regulatory Executive at NSF International, focusing on drinking water safety and treatment. Dr. Cotruvo has held academic appointments as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toledo and a Visiting Professor of Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Bari, Italy. His early career included a postdoctoral fellowship at the Italian National Research Council and roles in R&D. He is currently President at Joseph Cotruvo Associates LLC.
