Matthew Tennery, MS
Physicist specializing in applied quantum physics and quantum computing.
Education
MS, Quantum Engineering / December, 2022
The University of Texas at Austin
BS, Physics / May, 2021
Experience
Northrop Grumman
Transformational Physicist / February, 2023 — August, 2023
Worked as a Transformational Physicist on the Design and Execution Team of Northrop Grumman. As a physicist and integrated circuit designer, being comfortable with designing device schematics in an organized and scalable manner was critical. Schematic capture and simulation of Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits using Cadence Virtuoso and ANSYS constituted the bulk of my responsibilities. The work included ensuring performance within reasonable operating margins with strict tape-out deadlines for clients while operating as a team.
Colorado School of Mines
Graduate Researcher / August, 2021 — August, 2022
Worked as a Research Assistant at Colorado School of Mines in which it was my responsibility to fabricate and characterize electrothermal properties of nanoscale semiconductor devices.
Teaching Assistant / January, 2022 — May, 2022
Aided teaching a statistical mechanics and thermodynamics course taught by Dr. Susanta Sarkar at Colorado School of Mines. It was my responsibility to guide students through concepts they struggled with and conduct weekly structured office hours.
Energy Futures Initiative
Data Analyst Intern / May, 2020 — October, 2020
Worked as a data analyst with a team of interns in a non-profit organization at the University of Texas at Austin (Negative Emission Technology) to contribute towards a complete and comprehensive negative CO2 emission profile for the United States. Led a sub-group within the interns that focused on Direct Air Capture and current studies of metal organic frameworks.
