About

Dr. Sarah van der Ende is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children, where she works within the Translational Genomics unit. She completed a Bachelors of Science in Biology from The King's University in Edmonton, Alberta. She focused her course load on molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry, though she also completed a minor in English. She moved to Dalhousie University for grad school, and she completed her Doctorate of Philosophy in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. Her doctoral thesis focused on the disease mechanism and causal genes of a rare retinal vascular disorder called familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR). After finishing her PhD, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the department of pharmacology before moving to SickKids for her current position.
