Dr. Juliet Lamont, Ph.D.

Environmental consultant and academic professional with over three decades of leadership for integrated, science-based approaches to climate resilience and ecosystem restoration in policy and practice. Areas of expertise include: strategic assessment and analysis of government legislation impacting climate resilience; aggregation and application of funding sources for climate-positive solutions; evaluation and application of nature-positive solutions for restoration from local to landscape scales; integration of environmental and social goals with corporate sustainability and risk reduction; water resources conservation and improvement; and promotion of the benefits of ecosystem services and “natural infrastructure” for carbon sequestration, offsets, and reductions. About

Dr. Juliet Lamont is a passionate professional, academic, and advocate for the environment, biodiversity, and all species. She received her Bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1984, with a focus on Ecology through the History of Science department. She then went on to pursue her Master's in Wildland Resource Science from the University of California, Berkeley (1991), followed by a Ph.D. in Urban Ecology and Environmental Planning (2001) . With over 25 years of experience in the environmental field, Dr. Lamont has worked as an Environmental Consultant, Water Resources Consultant, Technical Advisor, and Grant Writer for various organizations, including the World Bank, California Urban Streams Partnership, and the California Delta Stewardship Council. Her ability to bridge science with policy, corporate, and broader stakeholder decision-making is a highlight in her work, such as her position to develop a Communications strategy for the federal-state CALFED Science Program. At the local level, she is currently a Technical Advisor and Grant Writer for an ongoing effort to daylight a major creek in the City of Berkeley's downtown, and was previously the Restoration Outreach Coordinator and Grant Writer for the Codornices Creek Watershed Restoration Action Plan (Berkeley, CA), which received awards from the state as an exemplar of watershed management strategy . She was a longtime Lecturer at San Francisco State University, a position from which she just retired, and was a professional instructor for the Association of Climate Change Officers, a national organization dedicated to building knowledge about climate policy and action across the government and corporate sectors. In addition to her professional consulting work, Dr. Lamont is actively involved in environmental advocacy. She has served as Chair, Vice-Chair, and Water Committee Chair for the Sierra Club S.F. Bay Chapter, the third largest Sierra Club membership group in the country. Dr. Lamont is dedicated to promoting sustainable solutions to environmental issues and educating others about the importance of preserving our natural resources. She continues to be a leader in her field and strives to make a positive impact on the environment through her work and advocacy efforts.
