Conducted a research project to understand the repercussions of the TOR1A gene mutation, which is seen in early onset dystonia (EOD). My successful production of mutated neurons served as a blueprint for future EOD projects.

Studied the effects of targeted plasticity and physical therapy in rodents with motor and sensory disabilities to develop adequate therapy models for neurological injury patients. These studies were relevant for the development of a vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) device that is currently being tested in several clinical trials. Also trained and supervised undergraduate volunteers in multiple tasks relevant to the studies.
