About

Dr. Laura Callahan is a linguist and educator specializing in Spanish language, literature, and linguistics. She earned her PhD in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley, and her MA and BA in Spanish from San Jose State University. Currently, Dr. Callahan is a lecturer at Santa Clara University. She is passionate about helping her students gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of the Spanish language through exploring its historical and cultural origins. Her research interests include exploring Spanish idiomatic expressions, second language acquisition, and the effects of language exposure in immigrant communities. Dr. Callahan's work has been published in a number of prestigious scholarly journals.
