Morica Hutchison

A collaborative and detail-oriented postdoctoral fellow and HDFS PhD graduate with seven years of experience in project development, management and intervention focused on adolescents at-risk of mental health and/or substance use diagnoses, including suicidal behaviors, to increase treatment seeking behaviors. I am looking to use my research and clinical experience, rapport with community-based partnerships and communication and writing skills.

About

I am currently a T32 postdoctoral fellow at the Center for the Study and Prevention of Suicide in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center. My training as a research scientist with a PhD in Human Development and Family Sciences focuses on utilizing evidence-based practices to address youth’s behavioral health, including substance use and suicidal behaviors. As a family scholar and prevention scientist, I am trained in the development, testing and implementation of evidence-based interventions aimed at improving the quality of behavioral health for youth and families in community-based settings. My research has focused on the creation and implementation of mindfulness-based interventions (MBI) with youth presenting with mental health and substance use disorders in recovery high schools and community-based outpatient clinical settings.
