Conducts process development improvement and control in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing fab to provide global capacity assurance and flexibility through a broad range of advanced customizable analog process technologies in growing markets. Manages all dielectric etch processes from wafer starts to passivation for Power FETs SiGe SOI CMOS and BiCMOS technologies. Develops and implements dielectric etch processes for nodes from 0.18 um to 0.8 um technologies. Worked closely with process and integration engineers. Ultimately improved process metrics such as statistical process control (SPC) yield parametrics and defects; achieved first-pass success of technology transfers; selection and qualification of semiconductor processing tools. Conducted root cause investigation of discrepant material; implemented yield and defect improvement projects to maintain highest quality and greatest yield for customers. Developed new semiconductor manufacturing process using design of experiments (DOE).

Lead researcher for an early-stage start-up company working with II-VI solar materials. Designed built and tested a unique low-cost manufacturing process that increased existing Si solar cells. One of four employees is developing a high impact solar cell efficiency improvement project funded by DOE. Primary researcher on 2MM II-VI photovoltaic material deposition and characterization. Designed and built unique prototype deposition and characterization equipment for project. Employee 2 with responsibility for all mechanical electrical and materials design. Start-up acquired by Hitachi.
LOS ALAMOS NATIONAL LABORATORY
Technical Staff Member / October, 1996 — May, 2011
Lead engineer for developing cutting edge technology to enable high-temperature coated conductors for power transmission and energy efficiency technology transfer with US industrial partners through the US DOE. Part of the Superconductivity Technology Center Los Alamos National Laboratory a multidisciplinary program for research development and technology transfer primarily in high-temperature superconductivity. Developed a high speed low-cost coated tape process using Ion Beam Assisted Deposition that resulted in several world records for HTS superconductors. Built a licensed portfolio of US and international patents awarded for work on world record holding HTS superconducting technology. Established effective collaborations with American industry universities and other national laboratories to develop electric power and electronic device applications of high-temperature superconductors.
UNITED STATES ARMY RESERVE
Director Human Capital, Army Reserve Innovation Command / May, 1991 — June, 2021
Managed the strategic and operational staff for a 2-star level General Officer Command at the 75th Innovation Command. Directed a brigade-equivalent Central Innovation Group based in Austin TX. Primary responsibility was designing and standing up a brigade equivalent unit with the mission of identifying accelerating and implementing innovative technologies that support Army Futures Command by maintaining US Army over-match capabilities and supporting the Army Modernization Enterprise. Responsibilities included oversight of five City Teams building and supporting local technology ecosystem networking coordinating problem set curation between the CINO Portfolio Teams and the City Teams and AFC; supported local university outreach activities and maintaining overall unit readiness. Recruit and retain necessary talent and expertise within Army Reserve to support identified critical gaps. Previously worked at the strategic level to provide total Engineer Force integration to support ASCCs and COCOMs at the 416th Theater Engineer Command as the DCoS of Plans (G5). As an Engineer Brigade Commander was deployed to Kuwait and received the Legion of Merit for efforts. Served in Afghanistan (2014) as a Battalion Commander of over 1000 Engineer Soldiers and deconstructed seventeen forward operating bases in transition from combat to support operations and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Served in Iraq (2003-2004) as the deputy officer-in-charge where he led a 180M project to build the first base camps in Baghdad area of operations. 26+ years of extensive experience in leading large organizations and managing large engineering projects.
