Dr. Tuokuu is an environmentalist with over a decade of experience in various areas crucial to addressing global environmental challenges. His expertise spans environmental compliance, climate justice, sustainability, resource mobilization, and energy transition. His extensive field work in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Kenya further strengthens his grasp of environmental issues in different cultural settings. He has provided technical leadership on environmental compliance to support projects funded by USAID, FCDO, Global Affairs Canada, and European Union across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas. <br> He currently serves as Senior Advisor for Environmental Policy and Compliance within Mercy Corps' Program & Technical Excellence Unit in Washington, D.C., having previously held the position of Senior Advisor for Environmental Sustainability. Before joining Mercy Corps, he held various roles, including Lecturer at Bournemouth University and Adjunct Researcher at The Robert Gordon University (RGU), Postdoctoral Fellow at York University, Postdoctoral Fellow at Keene State College, Adjunct Faculty at Antioch University, Teaching Lecturer at Plymouth State University, Sustainability Coordinator at Franklin Pierce University, and Research Assistant at the University of Ghana. His influence extends beyond his organizational roles. He has consulted for The World Bank, the Government of Sierra Leone, The Nature Conservancy, Africa Center for Energy Policy, Environmental and Energy Technology Council of Maine, and CAMFED-Ghana. He serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Law and Development Associates Group in Ghana. He has co-edited a book and co-authored 2 book chapters published by Routledge. He boasts a portfolio of 23 scientific papers in esteemed journals, including the Journal of Cleaner Production, Resources Policy, Energy Research and Social Science, Environmental Science & Policy, Journal of Environmental Policy and Planning, The Extractive Industries and Society, Business and Human Rights Journal, Business and Society Review, Natural Resources Forum. Currently, he is enrolled in Harvard Kennedy School's Executive Education Program, specializing in Public Policy. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from Antioch University and dual master's degrees: MSc. in Environmental Studies from Antioch University and MSc. in Corporate Social Responsibility & Energy from RGU.
