About

Dr. Sonja Vodehnal is a highly educated and experienced professional in the field of biology and public health. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with concentrations in Marine Biology, Genetics, Microscopy, and Histology from Texas A&M University in 1984. She then went on to complete her Master of Public Administration degree in Public Health from the University of Houston in 1988. In 1986, she also completed graduate studies in Health with a concentration in Sports Medicine from Texas A&M University. In 2025, Dr. Vodehnal will obtain her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Houston. Throughout her academic career, she has been a Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of Houston, working closely with Professor Greg Weiher. She has also worked as a Research Scientist at Labsystems Diagnostics Oy. Dr. Vodehnal's passion for education and sharing her knowledge led her to become a Department Chair and Educator for Advanced Physical Science and Biology at the Houston Independent School District. She has been recognized for her dedication and excellence in teaching, and has received numerous awards and accolades for her contributions to the field of biology. In addition to her academic and teaching experience, Dr. Vodehnal has also been involved in various research projects and studies related to public health and biology. Her expertise in these fields has allowed her to make significant contributions to the scientific community. Dr. Vodehnal is a driven and dedicated individual who is committed to advancing the understanding and application of biology and public health. She continues to inspire and educate future generations through her work in academia and research.
