Initiate and led the Marmon Water Technology Council (2007-2019) which consisted of the technical and business leaders of all Marmon Water Companies. Purpose to promote research and collaboration. Established and led Marmon Water Intellectual Property Committee. Committee reviewed and encouraged Invention Disclosures and managed all IP for Marmon Water. Developed patent strategy including focus on cost maintenance. Primary focus KX Technologies. Led and introduced the FACT brand of cellulosic filter media capable of fine filtration microbial and heavy metal reduction. Operates under pressure or gravity conditions. First gravity filter that met new NSF International standards for particulate lead reduction. Currently on the market as the Brita Longlast filter. Led the research product development and product certification efforts of Culligan International Company. I led the RD activities of the Everpure and Plymouth Products business units prior to their divestitures. Culligan RD encompasses research product engineering manufacturing and quality support product validation testing product and state certification and analytical laboratory services for RD and the Culligan dealer network. Member of the executive team and have budget and strategic responsibilities for the research and development department. Introduced new products that revitalized the Culligan point-of-entry product line including the introduction of industry leading electronic controllers and specialty problem water treatment products. Key participant in the outsourcing efforts of entire company product line to low-cost manufacturing centers resulting in 20MM in cost savings. Leader in cost reduction efforts that achieved 2.5MM in cost reductions. Participated in joint ventures mergers acquisitions and integration of business units. Key member of Culligan and Everpure business units divestiture teams. Developed strategic initiatives in the areas of microbial control disinfection technologies separation technologies and novel processes for water treatment. Leader in startup efforts Culligan Retail and Ultrapure carbon block business. Established strategic partnerships for new products. Initiated and manage a strategic Intellectual Property (IP) process that reduced IP patent costs and stimulated the development of numerous new patents for the corporation. Spearheaded efforts to develop an industry leading analytical laboratory that processes 12000+ samples per year for external customers and RD. The laboratory is certified in six states for inorganic analyses and was among the first to be nationally certified under NELAP. Revenue generated by the laboratory makes it a self-sustaining operation.

Research activities include development of consumer products for the retail channel (Culligan Consumer and Plymouth Products (Ametek) food service commercial and consumer products for the Everpure group and the development and implementation of carbon block technology and OEM products (Ultrapure). The Culligan Consumer and Ultrapure SBUs were new business ventures. Transitioned an RD staff from handling one business unit to three SBUs. Strengthened staffing. Introduced novel new consumer products for new SBUs and strategic business partners (GE MOEN Health o meter). Developed proprietary and exclusive products for the Coca-Cola Company. Implemented the Tollgate Process for the introduction and tracking of new products from ideation to product introduction. Led the development of carbon block technology including innovative formulations and products.

Directed proposal development installation operation and maintenance of the Freestone CA small system project. This project was recognized nationally for its successful innovation. Member of the U.S. EPA Low-Cost Small System Technology Development Committee. Municipal projects and sales dollars doubled due to the Freestone initiative. Developed patented brine recovery system for dealer plants and led scale-up efforts and demonstrated process at Waukesha WI dealership.
