Improved electronic material performance 10-fold over the benchmark as measured by established KPIs by applying Design of Experiments (DOE) framework to optimize material formulations. Delivered a viable material solution for next-generation wearables that met 100% of internal benchmarks by owning the full-cycle chemical synthesis and characterization of a high-performance polymer. Secured company intellectual property via the filing of 2 patent applications by leading the technical documentation and validation of a novel chemical synthesis process.
Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT)
Researcher / June, 2017 — June, 2020
Scaled up high-performance bioplastic production 200-fold enabling the successful transition from lab to pilot-scale by applying heat and mass transfer principles and optimizing reactor geometry via impeller design screening. Published novel high-performance bioplastic research paper in Nature Communications by spearheading the use of bioplastics and designing custom circuit layouts for OLED device fabrication. Delivered end-to-end material solutions resulting in 100% project fulfillment for industrial partners by leading polymer composite compounding and providing data-driven technical reports to guide business decision-making. Achieved 100% process traceability as measured by internal audit readiness by architecting and deploying a standardized SOP framework for complex polymer synthesis.
Purdue University
Graduate Research Assistant (PhD) / November, 2021 — December, 2025
Achieved a 60% reduction in solid tumor volume in in vivo mouse model studies by developing and functionalizing collagenase-based nanoparticles to effectively penetrate the extracellular matrix. Improved radio-chemotherapy efficacy 8-fold as measured by in vitro tumor cell assays by developing a predictive model correlating PLA and PLGA polymer structures with drug release kinetics.
Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST)
Graduate Research Assistant (MS) / January, 2015 — February, 2017
Published first-author research paper in Nature Communications achieved by designing and fabricating transparent graphene field-effect transistors utilizing a unique air-gap dielectric structure. Won the Samsung Humantech Bronze Prize from global competition among over 300 teams by developing a novel smart contact lens prototype that successfully integrated dual glucose and intraocular pressure sensors.
