About

Dr. Amy Edwards, EdD, leads a university support program for students with autism and who are neurodivergent. She holds a Master’s in the Science of Instruction with a focus on Secondary Mathematics and an EdD in Educational Leadership and Management specializing in Autism in Higher Education, both from Drexel University; along with an ABA certificate from Penn State in Educating Students with Autism. Dr. Edwards has been featured for her contributions to Neurodiversity in renowned publications such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and US News.   Since becoming director, Dr. Edwards has steered this program to prominence, ensuring it remains at the forefront of college autism support programs nationwide. Under her stewardship, a dedicated team supports students across various facets of university life including academics, employment, athletics, social integration, residential living, and independent living transitions. Notably, she has developed a sustainable program model that allows for scalable student support without artificial caps, offering a template for replication elsewhere.   Dr. Edwards remains actively engaged in research collaborations, primarily focusing on autism spectrum services in post-secondary education and employment. Her expertise is not only informed by academic study but also by personal experience as a mother of four children, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. This dual perspective enriches her understanding and approach to autism and neurodiversity, driving her commitment to enhancing support systems for individuals navigating similar journeys.
