About

Eneko Larrañeta is Chair in Pharmaceutical Materials Science at Queen’s University Belfast, specialising in drug delivery systems, biomaterials, formulation science, and pharmaceutical materials characterisation. He holds a BSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Navarra. His research spans the design, formulation, characterisation and evaluation of advanced drug delivery systems, with particular expertise in implantable devices for long-acting drug delivery, transdermal drug delivery systems, and biomaterials. His research group focuses strongly on the development of implantable systems using approaches such as melt processing and additive manufacturing. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, collaborates extensively with industry, and is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher and Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
