About

Dr. Collins-Bojovic is a political geographer and Early Career Researcher in the Discipline of Geography and Planning at Macquarie University, Australia. Her research interests culminate around the political geographies and governance of borders and informal migration corridors, working in Australia and Serbia. She completed my PhD in October of 2023, titled: “The political geographies of a camp archipelago: Exploring Serbia’s institutional camp geographies along an informal migration corridor”. Recently, she has worked as a Research Assistant on projects focused on neoliberalism and the commodification of borders; the closing of Australia’s sub-national borders during the Covid-19 pandemic and the shifting scales of governance and resilience; and the preparation of a workshop on health in Australia’s alternative places of detention. Additionally, she has nearly ten years of experience in the civil society sector as the founding Co-Director of The Workshop: Belgrade, a civil society organization in Serbia that provides language education to refugees and asylum-seekers in the country. This work has deepened her understanding of the human side of migration and has allowed her to actively contribute to the well-being and integration of vulnerable populations into Serbian society. She is passionate about bridging the gap between academia and real-world issues, and is eager to continue making meaningful contributions in the fields of political geography and migration studies.
