Senior Manager, Occupational Health

Direct all aspects of the Occupational Health Department. Serve as a subject matter expert for pandemic response, disease, injury, toxicology, medical surveillance, and data analysis. Supervise outside providers of services for Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration DOT exam review and OSHA medical surveillance programs. Manage the WM Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Program. Manage OSHA Hearing Conservation, Medical Surveillance and Respiratory Protection Programs. Track work-related injury and illness. Lead occupational health and industrial hygiene data integration projects. Produce and implement health and safety programs, training materials, and videos. Collaborate with the legal team to review cases that go to litigation or are at high risk of litigation. Complete medical chronologies, case snapshots, and summaries of medical records for attorney work product used in tort litigation defense.

Staff Epidemiologist -Biostatistician

Planned, designed, conducted and coordinated epidemiological investigations of disease and bioterrorism-related activities  Analyzed data including trend analyses of indicators of disease and potential public health events. Monitored application system performance, created daily reports on seasonal illness, and ran custom queries for specific conditions and special events. Conducted syndromic surveillance using the Electronic Surveillance System for the Early Notification of Community-Based Epidemics (ESSENCE). Documented business process maps for quality improvement improvement. Wrote reports and assisted with grant writing

Epidemiologist/ Sr. Clinical Research Scientist (Contractor)

Prepared scholarly reports, study protocols, literature reviews, technical research reports, manuscripts, and presentations. Provided statistical analysis and data management consultations. Completed statistical analysis for clinical studies and process improvement projects. Provided study design review and consultations. Wrote, edited, organized, and reviewed clinical research proposals. Wrote, edited and reviewed grant and IRB applications. Led and facilitated research project commencement meetings. Coordinated the weekly Grand Rounds lecture series. Served as a coordinator for research support for the Medical Residency- Graduate Medical Education Programs  Served as the organization representative for the San Antonio Bioscience Research Committee and contributed to the development of the San Antonio Bioscience Research Database (https://sabioscience.org/)

Provided quantitative analysis of the health outcomes and economic impact of health care interventions, policy changes, population health dynamics, and the natural history of disease.

Director, Quality Management

Oversaw the daily credentialing and quality improvement departmental operations. Supervised the Credentialing and Quality Management support staff, managers, and nurses. Managed the overall quality improvement management program to improve patient safety and patient care and coordinated process improvement activities across the plan. Served as Project Manager for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) accreditation project. Oversaw quality-related clinical peer review, potential quality issue investigation and resolution, provider clinical quality reviews, Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS), and process improvement activities for self-funded, commercial and government sponsored programs to include health maintenance organization (HMO) and preferred provider organization (PPO) enrollees.

Epidemiologist II, Onsite Lead (Contractor)

Conducted disease and occupational illness and injury surveillance. Conducted Air Force wide syndromic surveillance  Served as an administrator for Air Force Reportable Disease and Occupational Injury databases. Provided expertise in data extraction, statistical analysis, interpretation and reporting.
