Experience
Arizona State University
Ph.D. Researcher / August, 2013 — August, 2022
• Dissertation: "Transport Theory and Inelastic Nuclear Scattering for Proton Radiotherapy." • Extended Landau-Vavilov theory for energy straggling to very thick targets and provided a numerical solution to Moliere theory for large angles. • Developed complete, non-small angle screened Rutherford cross-section for thick targets. • Applied extended theories for inclusion in Monte Carlo codes and treatment planning systems.
Graduate Teaching Assistant / January, 2014 — May, 2021
• Assisted students with Physics labs, graded exams, lab reports, and recitation exercises. • Collaborated with instructors and faculty for curriculum development. • Tutored students on lab report writing and general physics. • Taught in lecture halls, recitation, active learning environments, and proctored exams.
Self Employed
Independant Consultant / February, 2018 — Present
• Build 3D models of targets and simulate interactions with radiation beams using FLUKA Monte Carlo. • Train artificial intelligence large language models in theoretical physics.
Mayo Clinic
Paid Graduate Intern / February, 2014 — December, 2014
• Modeled proton beam therapy dose from Monte Carlo simulations in MATLAB. • Improved confidence boundaries of nuclear components of the Mayo Clinic dose kernel by four orders of magnitude. • Presented at the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) annual meeting in 2015.
BEYOND - Center for Fundamental Concepts in Science
Research Assistant / August, 2011 — December, 2013
• Conducted research on the Emergence of Life Project, simulating coupled logistic maps in Python as a proxy for evolutionary transitions. • Presented findings at ABGRADCON2014 in Troy, New York.
