Materials Engineer / April, 2024 — December, 2025
Acted as primary technical advisor on material selection and process feasibility for advanced multilayer systems, enabling a 2× improvement in product durability. Led failure mode and risk assessments (FMEA) across new materials and coating processes, preventing late-stage design failures and supporting product qualification. Advised product teams on commercialization KPIs including manufacturing readiness, cost impact, and performance vs incumbent technologies. Provided technical leadership that supported successful $5.3M DOE funding, serving as key scientific contributor. Guided lab-to-pilot transitions by evaluating process scalability, rheology, solvent systems, and coating architectures for manufacturing viability. Supervised and mentored junior engineers, shaping technical direction and experimental strategy.
Tesla Inc
Cell materials development intern / August, 2023 — February, 2024
Collaborated with materials, procurement, and vendors to define technical KPIs for binders and separators, enabling strategic supplier selection and cost reduction. Provided technical guidance on electrode formulation, dispersion quality, and process stability, accelerating material down-selection. Supported post-mortem analysis of cells to inform design improvements and risk mitigation strategies.
Via Separation
Engineer / January, 2019 — January, 2022
Led development of scalable polymer membrane coating processes, turned research concepts into industrial production. Served as technical liaison between engineering teams, manufacturing partners, and external collaborators. Designed quality-control and qualification frameworks, achieving 100% production success rate. Advised leadership on process architecture, material selection, and manufacturing strategy for commercial deployment.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Graduate research assistant / June, 2018 — June, 2023
Led multidisciplinary projects in functional materials, coatings, and membranes with direct industrial relevance. Translated complex materials science into scalable fabrication strategies adopted by startups and industry partners. Acted as technical mentor for students and collaborators, shaping research direction and experimental design.
