Dr. Balendra Shukla is a Department Chair of Policy Analysis at the Harvard Kennedy School and a Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of a number of books, including The Political Logic of Indian Administrative Reform (Princeton University Press, 2019), which was named one of the ten best books of 2019 by The Economist, and The Politics of Indian Administrative Reform (Cambridge University Press, 2016). He has also written extensively on policymaking and public administration in India, and has been a frequent commentator on Indian politics and policy for publications such as the Financial Times, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Economist.
