Kaitlyn Shaw

Double Bachelors in Physics and Mechanical Engineering

About

I suddenly developed a medical disability in Feb 2023 and have been slowly working towards management ever since. This impacted me negatively in school and I did consider withdrawing, but I am happy that I was able to push through and bounce back. I even worked incredibly hard to get Dean's list last semester.

Experience

S.S. John W brown Project Liberty Ship

Student Researcher / June, 2021August, 2021

On board the S.S John W. Brown I worked alongside another student to devise a plan for measuring the efficiency of the ships main steam engine. We used the ships main sea water pump to start modeling equipment type and methods for pressure and volume measurements on the main engine. I researched and proposed several equipment purchases that were suitable for the superheated steam conditions in the main engine. I presented findings to the Maryland Space Grant Consortiums Research Symposium 2021.
