Arun Ravindran

Dr. Arun Ravindran is a Senior Scientist in the Campbell Family Mental Health Institute and Psychiatrist in the Division of Mood and Anxiety Disorders, where he was formerly the Clinical Director and Chief. He is a Full Professor in the Division of Neuroscience & Clinical Translation and the founding Emeritus Director of the Global Mental Health Program, Department of Psychiatry, as well as at the Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Toronto. Dr. Ravindran trained in psychiatry at the University of London, obtained an MSc in Neurobiology from Brunel University, and received his PhD in Behavioural Neurosciences from Liverpool John Moores University. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists of the UK. An opinion leader in his field, he is also a founding member of the Canadian Network for Mood and Anxiety Disorders (CANMAT). Dr. Ravindran’s clinical and research interests are in mood and anxiety disorders, including the behavioural pharmacology of psychotropic agents and their synergy with psychological therapies, and their neurobiology. He also has an interest in the development, evaluation, and implementation of effective mental health education programs in low- and middle-income countries. These programs aim to reduce stigma, increase help-seeking, improve coping, and promote positive development among transitional youth. Dr. Ravindran has published over 350 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has received grants from several national and international agencies.
