Southern University at New Orleans
Associate Professor of Education / April, 2021 — December, 2023
I brought my extensive research success to the classroom! I was excited to teach individuals who were considering a career as a teacher, as well as students who were ready to graduate and pursue their dreams of teaching the next generation. Research in education is ubiquitous. Students must learn how to evaluate, question, and discern what they read, especially in controversial issues. My classes covered the basics of research writing in the discipline. They also showed students the importance of utilizing educational research for the development, evaluation, intervention, and improvement of education. My teaching style at all levels stresses cooperative, participatory learning. Students achieved stated learning outcomes by active participation as both learners and as contributors of scholarly inquiry, personal experience, and ethical values. From this, they can begin to form their individual perspectives.

Seton Hill University

A leading Catholic liberal arts university, Seton Hill educates its students to “think and act critically, creatively and ethically as productive members of society committed to transforming the world.” Our Policy Against Discriminatory Harassment is prominent on our website. It concludes with " ... Respect, understanding, and a basic generosity of spirit are expected.” As Dean of Students and Diversity Officer, I ensured that such established goals and standards are achieved in actual student life. I balanced the overlapping social/personal/societal aspects of this charge with academic administrative perspicacity.
