F3 Competition
Chair and Judge of “F3 Fish-Free Feed Challenge”: Fish Oil and Fish Meal-Free Aquafeed Competition / January, 2015 — Present
I am the developer and chair of a global competition to promote innovation in seafood-free and seafood-reduced aquaculture feeds. Our goal is to promote innovation of alternative ingredients and reward commercialization that reduces the amount of fishmeal and fish oil used in aquaculture feeds. Funded by The World Bank and judged by University of Arizona, Monterey Bay Aquarium and New England Aquarium, our global competition has participants from South Africa, Burma, Indonesia, Pakistan, US, the Netherlands, Belgium, Thailand, and even Trinidad and Tobago. The world’s wild fish stocks are rapidly declining due to over-fishing, in large part due to demand for wild fishmeal and fish oil for feed. The ocean food chain depends critically on these fish, and we are working to encourage solutions. Can you help / get involved? Please email me: kevinfitzf3@gmail.com.
