ason P. Theriot Consulting, LLC was founded by Jason P. Theriot, Ph.D., an independent historian, author, and consultant specializing in energy, environmental, business, and Gulf Coast history. He earned his doctorate in history from the University of Houston and a degree in broadcast journalism from LSU, and he was a postdoctoral Energy Policy Fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.   Dr. Theriot is the author of *American Energy, Imperiled Coast: Oil and Gas Development in Louisiana’s Wetlands* and *Great Game Paradise: A History of Vermilion Corporation*, among other publications. His work blends archival research, oral history, and narrative storytelling to document the people, companies, and communities that shaped the region. His professional practice focuses on commissioned family memoirs, biographies, and company histories. Ongoing projects include a family-commissioned executive memoir at Sun Oil / Oryx Energy, a company history of M. A. Patout & Son (multigenerational Louisiana sugar enterprise), and a biography of Louisiana State Senator Claude Duval. As principal investigator, Dr. Theriot also contributed to the National Park Service publication Truman: The Elder Statesman, a study of Harry S. Truman’s retirement years. In addition to writing and editing, Dr. Theriot conducts oral history interviews, produces and edits video interviews, and develops short documentary and life-story films for families and institutions. He hosts and produces the Frenchie Podcast, which features interviews with Cajuns who served in World War II. His book Frenchie: The Story of the French-Speaking Cajuns of World War II was published by UL Press in 2025. Dr. Theriot also serves as a subject-matter expert in energy and environmental litigation, providing historical research, archival analysis, and expert support in complex legal matters. He lives in Houston, Texas, with his wife and two children and spends much of his free time in the marshes and working landscapes of coastal Louisiana.
