About

Sergio Maroto-Izquierdo, PhD, is a researcher and educator in the field of sports science and physical activity. He completed his Doctorate in Sports Sciences at the University of León in 2019, focusing on the effects of different strength training methods on muscle strength and power in various populations. He also holds a Master's degree in Innovation and Research in Sports Sciences from the University of León and a Bachelor's degree in Sports Sciences from the European University Miguel de Cervantes. Dr. Maroto-Izquierdo has extensive experience in both academic and practical settings. He has worked as a lecturer and researcher at several universities, including the University of León and the European University Miguel de Cervantes. He has also served as a strength and conditioning coach and independent consultant for several professional athletes and clubs in soccer, basketball, handball, padel, and hockey. His research interests include exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, and sports performance, with a particular focus on the application of scientific principles to improve athletic performance and muscle recovery. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his work at various national and international conferences. In addition to his academic and research work, Dr. Maroto-Izquierdo is also the Director of the Performance and Innovation Department at Proporción A, where he works with athletes and teams to optimize their performance through evidence-based training methods.
