About

**Sylvain Caillol is a Research Director at CNRS** and a leading expert in sustainable polymer chemistry**.** He graduated as an engineer from the National Graduate School of Chemistry of Montpellier in 1998 and earned an M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Montpellier before completing his Ph.D. at the University of Bordeaux in 2001. He began his career at Rhodia, the largest French chemical company at the time, where he headed the polymer research department at the Paris Research Center. He joined CNRS in 2007 at the Charles Gerhardt Institute in Montpellier. His research focuses on biobased polymers and the sustainable design of polymeric materials, with internationally recognized expertise in green chemistry and circular polymer design. He is also an affiliated Professor at Mohammed VI University in Morocco and serves as a Scientific Officer at the French National Research Agency (ANR), contributing to innovation ecosystems, technology transfer, and public–private partnerships. Dr. Caillol has co-authored more than 300 scientific publications, patents, and book chapters. His contributions have been acknowledged through several distinctions, including the Green Materials Prize and the Carnot Prize. As Vice-President of the French Polymer Society (GFP), he is actively engaged in strengthening international collaborations and fostering global exchanges within the polymer science community.
