About
Prof. Adam Mechler is a renowned physical chemist academic, specializing in the field of intermolecular interactions. He was born and raised in Hungary and developed a passion for science at a young age. He pursued his education in physics and chemistry and earned his PhD from the University of Szeged in 2001. During his PhD studies, Dr. Mechler focused on characterization of carbon nanostructures with an emphasis of graphite-diamond transformation. His research was recognized for its innovation and impact, and he was awarded the prestigious NATO Science for Peace Fellowship to continue his work at the University of California Santa Barbara, where he he found his inspiration from world leading experts and set his focus on the area of intermolecular interactions and self-assembly. In 2004 he moved to Australia as a Research Fellow at Monash University. Dr. Mechler joined the faculty at La Trobe University as tenured academic in 2009. He has since become a leading authority in his field, publishing numerous well received papers and receiving international recognition and accolades for his work. In 2012, Dr. Mechler was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in recognition of his contributions to the field of self-assembled nanomaterials. He is also a member of several other prestigious scientific organizations, including the American Chemical Society and the Australian Society for Biophysics. In addition to his research, Dr. Mechler is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has supervised numerous graduate and undergraduate students, and is known for his passion and enthusiasm in the classroom. Dr. Mechler continues to push the boundaries of our understanding of intermolecular interactions and self-organized systems and his work has significant implications for a wide range of fields, including materials science, biophysics, and physical chemistry. His dedication to scientific research and education has made him a highly respected figure in the scientific community.

About
Dr. Granath is a structural geologist with extensive knowledge of regional geology and petroleum exploration.  His expertise lies in seismic interpretation and integration with structural analysis, fracture analysis, regional synthesis, and prospect and play evaluation.  Dr. Granath spent 18 years with Conoco Inc. in research, international exploration, and new ventures, much of it in East and Northern Africa.  In 1999 he opened a consulting practice focused on structural geology and tectonics as applied to exploration problems and worked on projects in some 40 countries around the world, including most of SE Asia and Africa.  He is the author of numerous research papers.  Recently, he was invited to present two papers and chair a session at the AAPG Europe meeting in Krakow, Poland, in May 2024.  He was part of the technical committees for the “African Energy & Technology Conference”, an AAPG/SPE meeting in Nairobi, December 2016, and for an AAPG GeoTechnical Workshops in Marrakesh (entitled “Paleozoic Hydrocarbon Potential of North Africa”) in November 2017 and in Windhoek, Namibia, (entitled “Hydrocarbon Potential of Namibia”) in  June 2022.  He is a member of AAPG, AGU, GSA, and RMAG, a certified petroleum geologist.  He holds his PhD from Monash University in Australia, and a BS and MS from of University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
