She holds a Master of Arts in Global Affairs from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Philosophy from Salem State University. Her academic background has provided her with a strong foundation in critical thinking, research, and analysis. In her professional career, Vanessa has gained experience in various research roles. She works as a Research Associate at Root Policy Research, where she conducts policy research and data analysis on issues such as education, housing, and immigration. She also served as a Research Assistant at Salem State University, where she led data collection, analysis, and manuscript development for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's project on wildlife policy on Cape Cod. Additionally, Vanessa has worked as a Freelance Researcher for the Citizens Climate Lobby where she conducted research on climate change policies and their impact on communities. She has also been an active community organizer and advocate for the Public Higher Education Network of Massachusetts, advocating for affordable and accessible education. Vanessa's combination of education and experience has equipped her with a strong understanding of public policy and the ability to conduct thorough research and analysis.
