About
I am Associate Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice, and a Professor in the School of Design, at Queensland University of Technology, Australia. I am one of the world leaders of research in intuitive interaction, with a book, many articles and a special journal issue on the topic. I have conducted research projects on intuitive interaction for adults, older adults and children, developing novel methods of coding observational data in the process. I have also researched how older people engage with technology and how to design for people living with dementia. I am currently leading one Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery project on novel technologies for increasing active play for preschool children and another on distanced intergenerational interaction using technology. I have attracted and worked with external partners in government, community and industry on various projects and have won four ARC grants. I have published more than 110 peer reviewed papers, been invited to give presentations internationally and I am the recipient of several awards, including a 2018 ig-nobel.
