About
Dear Sir/Madam, This is Dr. Anup Kumar Patel, who has been working as a Postdoctoral Scientist at City of Hope CA. My research involves the synthesis and characterization of polymeric (PS, PLA, and PMMA), metallic (Au, Ag), and silica nanoparticles, functionalization, hydrogels, drug delivery for cancer treatment, UV curable & 3-D printable ink for wound healing applications, bio tribology, polymeric coatings and Surface‐Enhanced Raman Scattering with nanophotonic and biomedical amplifying systems for an early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease pathology (functionalization of HCPCF with NPs to generate SERS for early Alzheimer’s detection). Currently, I am working on the synthesis. Efficacy and formulation optimization of various injectable polymeric hydrogel materials (cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel, peptide SIINFEKL (H-2 Kb) gel for stimulation of T cells, PLA & PLGA gel/glue/NPs, cross-linked gelatin-based gel, PLA-based drug eluting rods, etc. for targeted and controlled drug delivery in cancer treatment, etc.). I am eagerly looking for an R&D opening to use my expertise and gain more work exposure. I will be available immediately to shoulder the responsibility. ***I have a J1 VISA with validity up to Aug. 2027 and I am always open for O1 as well as H1B sponsorship for the same.*** I pursued my Ph.D. dissertation under the guidance of Professor Kantesh Balani (IIT-Kanpur India) on a most significant problem: formation of wear debris, aseptic-loosening, and implant failure associated with polymeric-based acetabular cup liner used in orthopedic-applications (THR and THR). The title of the thesis is entitled “Effect of Carbon Nanotubes and Aluminum Oxide Reinforcement on Multifunctional Properties of UHMWPE Biocomposites for Biomedical Applications”. I have done the functionalization of MWCNTs with 3-APTES, hydrothermal synthesis of ZnO particles, and reinforced in UHMWPE with the varying weight percentage of Aluminum oxide using ball milling. Fabrication of composite was done using compression molding technique and characterized for mechanical, thermal, tribological, and biological (mineralization of apatite, cell culture, and bactericidal efficacy) properties. It would be great if work involves any synthesis and fabrication of materials, surface functionalization of nano-particles, stimuli-responsive polymers, hydrogels and 3-D printing, and anti-adhesive coatings. During my Ph.D. and postdocs, I gained a confident level of experience in the fabrication of biomaterials & their characterization using various techniques: XPS, SPR, AFM, XRD, FTIR, DSC, TEM, SEM, Raman, and nanoindentation for morphological, phase stability, and mechanical properties. Simultaneously, the synthesis of carbon nanofibers, and cell culture expertise (culture studies on various material surfaces with and without modification using L929 Mouse fibroblast cell line as well as MSCs cells) work were also pursued. I also have been working for \~ 2 years as a project associate in the Dept. of Chemical & Mechanical Eng. at IIT Kanpur with Profs. Y.M. Joshi, Ashutosh Sharma, and Sumit Basu respectively (pre-PhD). Lastly, I will be highly obliged to you for allowing me to work with your organization. Thank you very much! Sincerely, Anup
