About
I am a devoted cardiovascular research scientist with a keen focus on unraveling the intricate connections between inflammation, immune response, and metabolic dysregulation in both ischemic and non-ischemic heart failure. My passion lies in conceiving innovative hypotheses within cardiovascular medicine and translating them into feasible and actionable solutions, particularly in addressing inflammation through the exploration of Specialized Pro-Resolving Mediators (SPMs) and Pro-Inflammatory Mediators (PIMs) amid risk factors like obesity, diabetes, aging, and cardiotoxic co-medications (oncological drugs). My research delves deeply into four primary areas: comprehensively studying heart failure etiology by integrating insights from splenic leukocytes and cardiac function; quantifying inflammatory mediators hindering cardiac repair while identifying lipid mediators facilitating post-heart attack recovery; elucidating the roles of resolution receptors in inflammation-resolution dynamics within heart failure; and translating our findings into potential human therapies, thoughtfully considering associated risk factors. With over a decade of experience in cardiovascular research, I possess a versatile skill set encompassing mouse models, imaging, flow cytometry, primary cell cultures, histology, molecular biology, and microscopy. Presently, I'm actively engaged in projects exploring the developmental trajectories of Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF) and investigating the impact of lipoxygenases, specifically 12/15LOX and 5LOX, on acute heart failure across various age groups
