About
Victoria Mattingly, PhD (Dr. V) is founder and CEO of Mattingly Solutions, a workplace inclusion consulting firm. Her life mission is to use organizational science to improve the human experience at work, especially for underrepresented and historically excluded groups. Dr. V is a published author, an academic researcher, has taught in business schools globally, and is an esteemed speaker thought leader in the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) field. She earned her PhD in Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology from Colorado State University, specializing in the science of workplace behavior change interventions. As an organizational psychologist, she turns otherwise abstract concepts like inclusion and allyship into quantifiable metrics. Dr. V is currently focused on bringing more scientific rigor to the DEI space, enabling organizations to better track and assess progress toward reaching their goals. To this end, she recently co-authored (alongside her biz bestie, Sertrice Grice) the book, Inclusalytics: How Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leaders Use Data to Drive Their Work. https://www.amazon.com/Inclusalytics-Diversity-Equity-Inclusion-Leaders/dp/B09WQB2MDD A leader within the Society of Industrial Organizational Psychology, Dr. V currently hosts SIOP's Conversation Series Livestreamed Podcast. https://www.siop.org/Research-Publications/Conversation-Series Dr. V founded Mattingly Solutions in August 2019 on the belief that DEI training alone is never enough to make a real impact on DEI outcomes. DEI done right is embedded in the fabric of a company’s culture, its overall strategy, and considered in every business decision—at all levels of the organization. Before starting Mattingly Solutions, Dr. V worked as and DEI and L&D external consultant at and DDI and Mind Gym, building products that are still being sold and implemented to this day. She also worked on Amazon’s talent assessment team, building innovative training solutions for more inclusive hiring programs, with an emphasis on fair hiring practices and candidate experiences.

Manager, Science Applications / March, 2022Present

Senior Applications Scientist / June, 2022April, 2023

Colorado State University

Research Associate III / November, 2015June, 2022

-Modeling and analysis of agricultural systems using the DayCent biogeochemical model to examine management impacts on carbon sequestration and GHG emissions. -Generating programs for improved model performance and rapid results analysis. -Review and examination of the USDA N2O method in order to update the method. -Global soil carbon analysis using a steady state version of the century soil carbon dynamics model. -Analysis, QA/QC, and report generation for the US national GHG inventory. -Management of a global nitrogen database, literature reviews and model testing for model improvements, and GIS mapping and programming.

Research Associate II / July, 2014November, 2015

Working with the DAYCENT and CENTURY biogeochemical carbon and nitrogen cycling model to simulate grazing and other management impacts on carbon sequestration, grassland productivity, and GHG emissions in world pastures and rangelands.

Trace Gas Biogeochemistry Group

Research Assistant / January, 2014July, 2014

Working on manuscripts for publication regarding enteric fermentation, soil GHG emissions, and dairy farm GHG emissions. Working with farmers and modelling of GHG emissions to help farmers better understand and incorporate better nutrient cycling practices and to reduce emissions.

Graduate Research Assistant / May, 2011December, 2013

Data collection and analysis for Comparison of Conventional and Organic Dairy GHG emission project. Also aid in collection and analysis of gas samples from peatland research in Alaska.

Alaska Peatland Experiment (APEX)

Field Technician / June, 2010August, 2011

Performed carbon flux work, site maintenance, vegetation surveys and counts, and other site work in order to examine carbon fluxes from an intermediate fen and thermokarst bog near Fairbanks, AK. The fen consisted of a control plot as well as a raised and lowered water table plot as well as open top chambers for warming in order to examine carbon fluxes under an altered environment as predicted by climate change scenarios. Bog consisted of relatively recently collapsed permafrost thaw areas to examine carbon flux under these conditions. Also conducted an individual project on light response curves of plants using LiCor LI-8400. Worked two summer seasons at APEX.

University of New Hampshire Environmental Research Group

Green Roof Technician / January, 2010June, 2011

I worked collecting and analyzing data from an experimental green roof designed for daily water balance observations. Water storage along with weather data was used to determine the behavior of the roof under different weather conditions. The main focus was on the behavior of the green roof while under snow cover and freezing temperatures. A presentation of the findings was given at the Undergraduate Research Conference at the University of New Hampshire.

University of New Hampshire Forest Ecosystem Group

Field/Lab Technician / May, 2009May, 2011

Worked in field and lab operations of lab consisting of: CO2 sampling, nitrogen fertilization experiments, litter collection and analysis, as well as carbon:nitrogen sample preparation and analysis. Worked on remote sensing project of Hubbard Brook nitrogen and albedo comparison. Was presented at the Undergraduate Research Conference at UNH in 2010 as well as being featured as a co-author on the work in a presentation at the Hubbard Brook consortium meeting.

About
My goal is to participate and help lead innovative projects regarding agricultural adaptation, mitigation, and efficiency in order to help lower greenhouse gas emissions and make agricultural systems more resilient under the changing climate. Improving communication of science and better engaging stakeholders in climate action. <br> I attended the University of New Hampshire (UNH) where I received my bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecosystems in 2011. While at UNH I worked for the Forest Ecosystem lab researching carbon fluxes in forest ecosystems, and the Environmental Research Group where I researched the impact of snow on green roofs. I worked two summers at the University of Alaska Fairbanks with the Alaska Peatland Experiment as part of the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) summer internship program. Here my work focused on researching carbon fluxes in an Alaskan peatland under a changing climate. I later participated in a UNH run New Zealand Study abroad program called EcoQuest where I wrote my senior thesis titled "Lizard populations on Motuihe Island, New Zealand". While in New Zealand I came to realize my interest in agricultural systems and how they involved a deep multidisciplinary understanding of both human nature and systems as well as ecosystem science. The interwoven fabric of these fields is ever present and is essential for understanding and adapting in an ever changing world. I earned a masters degree at UNH in 2013 on my thesis titled "Comparison of greenhouse gas emissions on an organic and conventional dairy in New Hampshire". My thesis involved sampling of GHG emissions from dairy cows, manure, animal housing, and soil emissions. My thesis focused on examining differences in management between systems and how this can lead to varied GHG efficiencies, as well as the advantages and disadvantages between systems.
