Katie Barr is a bioinformatician with a strong background in computer science. She received her Ph.D in Quantum Information from the University of Leeds in 2013. She also holds an MSc in Mathematical logic and the theory of computation from the University of Manchester, and a BSc in Physics and Philosophy with study in Continental Europe from the University of Bristol. Katie has extensive experience working in the fields of bioinformatics and software development. She has worked as a scientific programmer at the Earlham Institute, a postdoctoral bioinformatician in the Nanomedicine group at the University of Manchester, and is now an Associate Principal Scientist in Bioinformatics at Kromek. Katie is passionate about using her knowledge and skills to improve the lives of others and she is dedicated to the advancement of science and technology. Mekala Venkatachalam is a highly educated and experienced professional in the field of Microbial Fermentation and Food technology. She received her Ph.D. in Microbial Biotechnology from Université de La Réunion in 2017, where she conducted research on the use of microorganisms to produce pigments for various applications in the food industry. Prior to her doctoral studies, she completed her MS.c in Food Quality and Innovation from University of Leeds in 2012, where she focused on the development of new food products and quality control measures. Venkatachalam's passion for food technology began during her undergraduate studies at Anna University, Chennai, where she earned her B.Tech in Food Technology in 2011. She then went on to gain valuable experience in the industry, working as a Research Associate at Kemin Food Technologies and as an Innovation Scientist at Sensient Bionutrients. Currently, Venkatachalam works as a Consultant and Subject Matter Expert, utilizing her extensive knowledge and expertise to provide guidance and support to various organizations in the biosciences industry on fermentation related projects. With her strong background in research and development, as well as her practical experience in food and microbial technology, she is able to offer valuable insights and innovative solutions to complex challenges. Rosalind I. J. Hackett is an Extraordinary Professor at University of the Western Cape, South Africa (Desmond Tutu Centre for Religion and Social Justice). She was professor and head of religious studies and adjunct in anthropology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. From 2003-08 she was a Distinguished Professor in the Humanities. She received her PhD in religious studies from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1986, and prior to that taught at Nigerian universities for eight years. In 2000-01 she spent a year at Harvard University as a Liberal Arts Fellow in Law and Religion, Harvard Law School, and was a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of World Religions at HDS. She was a Rockefeller Research Fellow at the Kroc Institute of International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame in 2003-04. She was appointed a Mellon Fellow at the University of Cape Town in Religious Studies in May 2014. Dr. Hackett has published widely on religion in Africa, notably on new religious movements, religious media, gender and religion, regulation of religious diversity, and religion and conflict. She has been very active in the International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR) and was reelected President from 2010-15). She is the cofounder of the IAHR Women Scholars Network. She was a founding member of the African Association for the Study of Religions and has also served as President of the North American Association for the Study of Religions. She is part of the founding steering committee of the African Consortium on Law and Religion Studies, founder/coordinator of the Jazz for Justice Project and the UT Gulu Study and Service Abroad Program in Northern Uganda.
