BENJAMIN D. LEVINE M.D. is the founder and Director of the Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine (IEEM) at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas where he also holds the S. Finley Ewing Chair for Wellness and the Harry S. Moss Heart Chair for Cardiovascular Research. He is Professor of Internal Medicine/Cardiology and Distinguished Professor of Exercise Sciences at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.  Dr. Levine earned his B.A. magna cum laude in human biology from Brown University and his M.D. from Harvard Medical School.  He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Stanford University Medical Center followed by a cardiology fellowship at UT Southwestern where he trained under the renowned cardiovascular physiologists Gunnar Blomqivst, M.D. and Jere Mitchell, M.D.  Dr. Levine founded the IEEM in 1992 which has become one of the premier laboratories in the world for the study of human clinical and integrative physiology.  His global research interests center on the adaptive capacity of the circulation in response to exercise training, deconditioning, aging, and environmental stimuli such as spaceflight and high altitude.  A Henry Luce Foundation and Fulbright Scholar, he received the Peter van Handel Award from the US Olympic Committee (for outstanding research), the Research Award from the Wilderness Medical Society, the Honor Award from the Texas Chapter of ACSM, the Citation Award from the National ACSM for his body of work, and the Distinguished Scientist Award by the ACC.  A consummate clinician and teacher as well as a scholar, he was elected to the Association of University Cardiologists, received the Michael J. Joyner International Teaching Award from the Danish Cardiovascular Research Academy, and has been selected as one of the “Best Doctors” for cardiovascular medicine in Dallas and America by his peers.  Dr. Levine is a renowned sports cardiologist who sees athletes with cardiovascular medical problems from around the world and serves as a consultant to the NCAA, the NHL, the NFL, the USOC, USA Track and Field, and other athletic organizations. He has been a key contributor to the guidelines for the management of athletes with heart disease since 1994. Dr. Levine also has a unique background in space medicine, serving as a co-investigator on 4 Spacelab missions (SLS-1, SLS-2, D-2 and Neurolab), the MIR space station, and most recently, awarded the 2021 Scientific Achievement award by the Aerospace Medicine Association a section of the Space Medicine Association. Dr. Levine has published 497 peer-reviewed journal articles, reviews, book chapters, and technical papers, and is currently serving on the editorial boards of numerous journals, Dr Levine is a fellow of the American Heart Association for which he is the immediate past chair of the Exercise and Cardiac Rehabilitation Committee, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the Cardiovascular Section of the American Physiological Society and the American College of Cardiology, former VP and member Board of Trustees of ACSM, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Autonomic Society, elected member of the Association of University Cardiologists, and elected member of the prestigious medical society the Association of American Physicians.

Shadi Bartsch-Zimmer works on Roman imperial literature, the history of rhetoric and philosophy, and on the reception of the western classical tradition in contemporary China.  She is the author of 5 books on the ancient novel, Neronian literature, political theatricality, and Stoic philosophy, the most recent of which is Persius: A Study in Food, Philosophy, and the Figural (Winner of the 2016 Goodwin Award of Merit).  She has also edited or co-edited 7 wide-ranging essay collections (two of them Cambridge Companions) and the “Seneca in Translation” series from the University of Chicago. Bartsch’s new translation of Vergil’s Aeneid was released from Random House in 2021; in 2022, she is publishing a monograph on the contemporary Chinese reception of ancient Greek political philosophy.  Bartsch has been a Guggenheim fellow, edits the journal KNOW, and has held visiting scholar positions in St. Andrews, Taipei, and Rome. Starting in academic year 2015, she has led a university-wide initiative to explore the historical and social contexts in which knowledge is created, legitimized, and circulated.

Adrienne Lucas is a professor of economics in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware, a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a faculty affiliate of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), non-resident fellow at the Center for Global Development (CGD) and a research network member of Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA). She is a development economist specializing in the economics of education and disease. Her current research focuses on the importance of information in school choice decisions, using existing school system personnel and resources to increase student learning, and external validity across contexts. Lucas has published research on malaria, free primary education, HIV/AIDS, secondary school choice, the return to school quality, teacher incentives and improving early primary school literacy. Prior to joining the University of Delaware, she was an assistant professor of economics at Wellesley College. I am an academic thought leader, author, internationally recognized expert and consultant on transitional justice, genocides, reparations, and truth commissions. I have travelled to Ghana, South Africa, Cambodia, and Armenia and across the US and Canada presenting on the Armenian genocide, reparations for slavery and Native American genocides. I have written several articles, book chapters and co-edited volumes on truth commissions, restorative justice, genocides and reparations. I have also authored two books in grief and loss. I am currently Associate Professor and Chair of the African and African American Studies Program at New Jersey City University. I was previously Associate Director of the Centre for Caribbean Thought and Lecturer of Transitional Justice in the Department of Government, University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona (2007-2016). I attended the distinguished Calabar High School ( Jamaica) from 1989 -1996. I received his B.Sc. in Political Science and International Relations (First Class Honours) in 1999 and M.Sc. (2002) from The University of the West Indies, Mona. I was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Graduate Fellowship between 2000-2002. I later earned his M.A. (2002) and Ph.D. in Political Science in 2006 from Brown University. For stellar contributions to academia, in 2021 I was awarded The UWI Pelican Award, the highest accolade commended by the UWI Alumni Association to a fellow alumni for global distinction in his field of expertise. In December 2021 I awarded the Distinguished Educator Award by the Union of Jamaican Alumni Association USA for stellar contributions to the field of education in the diaspora. In the academic area I have done mathematical modeling (cultural diffusion and human visual systems) as an undergraduate. As a graduate student I worked as a consultant to the US government, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, WGBH radio and television in Boston, a large project at the Harvard School of Education on children and television, and with a number of community organizations associated with the Harvard Medical School on projects related to community health. On these above projects I was the lead statistical analyst and also assisted in designing the research protocols. I am familiar with and competent using the latest data management, statistical analysis, and visualization software in the python programming language, as well as the Jupyter Notebook offshoot that is usable by non-programmers and suitable for publication quality output. After finishing my Ph.D. I was a principal investigator, along with my colleague, at the Harvard Medical school. I was the statistical analyst and hardware/software specialist for designing our experimental and testing protocols for our research into meditation. I still am actively involved in research into meditation and related systems and the effects on practitioners and their communities. I also am involved in the applications of esoteric systems to behavioral health. In the corporate world I have worked with startups, established companies, non- profits, dot-coms, and private scientific groups. Charles D. Kocher is a physicist and mathematician with a passion for pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge. He received ScBs in Physics and Mathematics from Brown University in 2019, graduating Magna Cum Laude. After completing his undergraduate studies, Charles continued his education at Stony Brook University, where he earned his PhD in Physics in 2024. During his time at Stony Brook, he developed a highly interdisciplinary research program in theoretical biophysics as a student of Ken Dill, focusing particularly on the application of nonequilibrium statistical mechanics to the origin of life and other areas. He also worked as a Research Assistant testing photomultiplier tubes at Brown University as a part of the LUX-ZEPELIN dark matter collaboration, which produced world-leading sensitivity for dark matter detection.
